Hippo Chair

Hippo is a comfortable futon chair that can be easily transformed into a mattress. By unhooking the back of the sofa and lifting the armrests, Hippo lays flat, becoming a thick, soft mattress perfect for guests and sleepovers. Design by Anders Backe, Anne-Sofie Voss, Ida Sofie Lange, Lars Wigh and Troels Rask Pedersen for Karup Design. Karup’s design stems from the perfect blend of minimalist and essential Scandinavian design and Japanese futons. All of its creations are transformable solid wood furniture: teen rooms, guest rooms, first homes, and summer homes. Karup uses the advantages of futons to find new, unexplored solutions.All beds and sofa beds are made entirely of natural wood, thus ensuring a perfect balance between personal health culture and environmentally sustainable philosophy.
